We are excited to invite applications for an Assistant Vice President of Public Safety and Campus Police. Under the direction of the Senior Vice President of Integrated Health, Safety and Response Services, the Assistant Vice President manages the Department of Public Safety and Police and enforces University rules and regulations to provide a safe environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors at all campus locations.

 

The Assistant Vice President will manage safety, security and emergency management operations for the campus community and develop and implement comprehensive safety and security programs, emergency preparedness initiatives and policing strategies. Services are provided 24 hours per day, seven days per week, across multiple campus locations. This employee is considered essential and must have the ability to work all shifts (including nights and weekends) as necessary and be on-call/respond to campus to take command of emergency situations when appropriate.

 

Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree; a driver’s license valid in the State of New Jersey; and six years of professional experience in law enforcement is required, preferably in a leadership role. Professional experience in a police department in an institution of higher education is preferred. Candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills and outstanding interpersonal skills to effectively interact with diverse internal and external communities. A broad understanding of safety, fire safety and workplace safety with a demonstrated ability to respond effectively to crisis situations is required.
