The Dean of the Graduate School is responsible for:
- Creating an infrastructure that supports excellence in graduate education.
- Developing and promoting diverse graduate programs.
- Enhancing the graduate school experience to enable student success.
- Enhancing graduate student quality of life
- Promoting graduate education outside the university.
The new leader will play a significant role in advancing the Graduate School’s mission of supporting graduate programs, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows by coordinating and optimizing available resources and advocating for new resources; ensuring policies and practices are developed and applied; and advocating for graduate education. The Dean will be a visionary and transformative leader who will drive the strategic direction within graduate education through collaboration with faculty, staff, and administrators.
The Dean will ensure that the goals of the Graduate School align with diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, research, interprofessional education, and external community connections all while fostering a culture of open communication and collaboration among faculty, staff, and students. They will be energized by bringing teams and people together in a transparent, honest, and compassionate way.
