The Kean Skylands campus, located in Jefferson Township, New Jersey, is designed to serve as an outdoor living laboratory for field-based scientific study and other classroom and field instruction.

 

We are excited to invite applications for a Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA) to join our Kean team.  The VPSA is responsible for the oversight of the following departments: Residential Student Services; Center for Leadership and Service; Student Conduct; Student Governments and Organizations, including Greek Life; and the Miron Student Center. The VPSA also oversees Student Affairs operations for the Wenzhou-Kean University campus, Kean Ocean and Kean Skylands.

 

Reporting to the Senior Vice President for Administration, the Vice President for Student Affairs serves as the university's senior student affairs officer, responsible for the overall leadership and administration of the Division of Student Affairs and its related programs, services, activities and non-academic learning experiences across multiple campus locations. The VPSA is responsible for the planning, development and management of all aspects of student affairs, including the supervision of staff, budget, strategic planning and assessment. The VPSA works collaboratively with all members of the Kean community to develop, guide and implement programs, initiatives and operations that enhance the university-wide student experience and promote student success.

 

This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours. The VPSA will assist with crisis/emergency management situations and should be prepared to be on-call should a health or safety emergency occur.

 

Qualifications: Master's degree from an accredited college and a minimum of eight years of progressive leadership experience in student affairs at the university level, with a proven track record of success in developing and implementing innovative programs and services that enhance the student experience and promote student success is required. Equivalent education and/or experience may be determined by the university. Candidate must have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, with experience in creating and fostering inclusive environments that support the success of all students; exceptional leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team of student affairs professionals; and strong strategic planning and project management skills, with the ability to develop and execute complex initiatives that align with the university's mission and strategic priorities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
