Dr Al-Alawi was awarded the degree of Ph.D. in Management Information Systems in 1991 from the University of Leeds www.leeds.ac.uk (Full paid scholarship from the University of Bahrain), United Kingdom, MBA in 1985 from Thomas College www.thomas.edu (Full paid scholarship from the University of Bahrain), Maine, USA and BS in Business Administration/ Business Information Systems in 1983 from Husson University www.husson.edu (Full paid scholarship from the Ministry of State for Cabinet Affairs), Maine, USA. In addition he is a Certified Chartered Registered e-Commerce Consultant, Manager and Analyst, CEC, CEM, USA 2002. I am also a Certified Trainers Training on Entrepreneurship Development from UNIDO 2001.
Dr Al-Alawi`s research has been published in Journal of Knowledge Management, Review of Business Information Systems, Electronic Government: an International Journal, The International Review of Economics and Business, Journal of Computer Science, Information Technology Journal, Asian Journal of Information Systems, Issues in Information Systems and others. Dr Al-Alawi founded the MIS Department in University of Bahrain, where he played a leading role in the establishment of the information systems curriculum for this department in both College of Information Technology in which the department is currently a part and College of Business, where the department was formerly located. Dr Al-Alawi also played a key role in the migration of this department from the College of Business to the College of Information Technology. He served six years as chairman of this department in both colleges and a chairman of Office Management Department in the College of Business. He is also one of the founders and board members for Bahrain Information Technology Society (BITS); Bahrain Academic Society and Information Systems Audit & Control Society and is considered as an MIS Authority in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Dr Al-Alawi has to his credit more than 20 years of experience involving research and teaching MIS to undergraduate and postgraduate level. Dr Al-Alawi intensively participated in the board form by a degree from HH the Prime Minster for the development of Bahrain Internet Exchange (BIX) and substantially contributed in the Committee founded by HH the Prime Minster for the Preparation of the Government Program for Parliament.
